Spouse won’t allow me to learn the settings on the new washer. I do get to fold everything, though, except the sheets, on which I am not trusted, and for good reason.

Military veteran here so well versed on laundry duties. When my wife and I first got together we had a fresh out of the dryer load spread out on the bed while folding and chatting. I was on the bed next to the dresser so I went ahead and folded her underwear and bras then placed then in the drawer. She walked around to the dresser with a Morris the Cat finicky look on her face, looked at her neatly folded laundry, looked at me then reached in the drawer and started fluffing up the contents of the drawer! Tru story!

The problem is that women usually own a lot of sensitive garments with laundering-instruction tags full of strict instructions like:

DO NOT MACHINE-WASH. DO NOT USE BLEACH. DO NOT USE HOT WATER. DO NOT USE WARM WATER. DO NOT USE ANY WATER. DO NOT TOUCH THIS GARMENT UNLESS YOU ARE WEARING STERILIZED SURGICAL GLOVES. PUT THIS GARMENT DOWN IMMEDIATELY, YOU CLUMSY OAF.

Try as we may our inadequency to function in a womans world leaves us with parnoia that she’ll find someone else more attractive to fill her desires, thus the web is spun and we choke on our fears.

I wash whites / lights / darks as separate loads – get scolded because the loads need to be separated by the type of materials which I don’t do – so I’m not allowed to do laundry anymore – seems heavy denim jeans and dress slacks are not supposed to be washed togethers. Works for me…

The best way to get out of a chore you don’t want to ever do again is to do it really wrong.

What I hate is, I’ll buy a multicoloured blouse and the instructions say “wash with like colours”. WTH?

I am a 71-year-old Vietnam Era Navy Veteran and the main reason I never got married was that no female I ever met could get the hang of folding my clothes to be able to fit in a shipboard rack. PS, I love doing my own laundry!!

She still finds it stimulating when he handles her underwear.

Guys! Screw up the job JUST ONCE and she won’t ever ask you to do it again. (Don’t pull the same scam twice.)

Same deal here. I like laundry – it’s something I can do well from my seated position. He gets to vacuum.

No matter how carefully a guy does laundry,it will never, repeat never be folded the “correct” way for the woman in question. Even the most scrupulous, painstaking efforts will be rewarded with an eye roll, an exasperated sigh, and a do-over in front of the guilty party. Women live to correct the men in their lives.

Jimbo, let Rose have her Laundry Moment. I’m sure you’d be a nervous wreck if she were to take away your Garbage Moments and take out the garbage herself!

When a man says he would do anything for his woman, he means fighting off bad guys or slaying dragons. Not vacuuming or doing laundry!

My military hubby complained how I did laundry when we first married. I solved that problem. I have not folded laundry since – married 20+ years.
