Why would she object to him eating her peas when it is a healthy thing for him to eat?

My grandparents would never give the advice that Opal offers here. In fact, she’d insist you eat your peas even though she was a terrible cook. And my grandfather, once when we were having peas and carrots, told my little brother “Be sure to eat every carrot and pea on your plate”.

Mike was confused by that one for quite a long time.

Parents have eyes in the back of their heads, sure ’nuff. Grandmas, maybe only if they keep there… head… in the kid game.

IMO, a GOOD grandma would like that the grandkid is liking fresh veggies!

I had a high school teacher who was a nun. She DID have eyes on the back of her head. She never missed my messing around in class, even when she was at the blackboard.

Bleah to regular peas. Only vine grown Sugar-Snap variety for this boy. But I found it fascinating long-long ago watching an uncle eating the cooked ones with a knife.
