I don’t know that all of his lawyers deserve to be there. Some of then we’re charged for simply being Trump’s lawyer. It seems wrong. I don’t know an the ins and outs, but on the face of it there seems something off about it
Did anyone else see that out of last weeks co-conspirators, the only one who has to spend time in jail right now is African-American? Supposedly he’s considered a flight risk, The fact that he turned himself in before the orange one didn’t seem to count for anything.
Let’s take a look at fines, like a speeding ticket.
I’m driving along, too fast, and I get a ticket for going 75 in a 55 zone. We’ll say the fine is, oh, $500. For me that’s a significant percentage of what I make in a month. I can pay it, but it’s going to take a bite. I should have known better.
Many are not so fortunate as I. $500 is a weeks pay, and when you live from one paycheck to the next you can’t lose a weeks pay. You can’t buy gas to get to work. Groceries. Pay the rent. A $500 traffic ticket could put a family out in the street.
And then there are the Trump Co-conspirators. $500 is nothing to them. Nothing. Even the fines for not paying the ticket are nothing.
How is this fair? We all suffer the same penalty, for the same crime, right? No. We do not.
We spent so long making justice “fair” when we should have been making it “equitable”. If my fine is half a weeks pay, than Donald Trump should pay what he makes in half a week. Does it matter how much less I pay, or how much more he pays?
The fine is NOT the money. It’s how much the LOSS of the money affects you.
So when Trump, or his co-conspirators walk into the Fulton County lock up they need to feel the bite just as hard as you or I.
I think there are actually 4 tiers of justice: lower class, middle class, upper class, and Trumpites. The lower class is generally screwed no matter what. The middle class gets a reasonable approximation of what the system is supposed to do. The upper class can manipulate the system with their money to get sweet deals. But the Trumpites can rig the game not only with money but also political propaganda and, in some cases, using their own governmental authority.
Shokin – “I have said repeatedly in my previous interviews that [then-Ukrainian President Petro] Poroshenko fired me at the insistence of the then-Vice President Biden because I was investigating Burisma,” Shokin said in the interview.
“[Poroshenko] understood and so did Vice President Biden that had I continued to oversee the Burisma investigation, we would have found the facts about the corrupt activities that they were engaging in. That included both Hunter Biden and Devon Archer and others.”
We do have a two-tiered justice system. Trump and his co-conspirators and enablers and assorted billionaires in the favored tier, and everybody else in the unfavored tier.
Y’know, if the US Senate operated on the basis of sweet reason, they’d all get together and persuade Mitch McConnell and Dianne Feinstein to submit simultaneous resignations so they could go back home and take care of their ailing brains, leaving the balance of power split 50-48 instead of the current 51-49. But do they even talk to each other any more?
Had to be a two-tiered system, or Fatso would have been already in prison in 2015 and not bothering decent people. I didn’t even know I was in a country where ‘Apprentice’ was a hot show for a lot of years

It’s just right whinger gas… but in this case, as Luckovich points out, it’s also accidentally true.

The U. S. has a perfectly fair justice system. One will get all the “justice” one can afford.

This cartoon would be more accurate if nearly all the people in the cell behind him were non-white.

Jack Douglas Teixeira and Abigail Jo Shry are sitting in jail for committing the same crimes as trump. We definitely have a two-tiered justice system.

All Trump Disciples believe that overthrowing the government of the United States is part of the job description of Republican Chief of Staff.
Because It’s OKAY If A Republican Does It.
