Don’t think I’ve ever had a cat that didn’t think of the bowl as completely empty once they had taken one bite. I’m fairly certain that it’s part of their DNA.
But most cats i’ve known will DELIBERATELY eat from one side of the bowl to create the illusion of a near empty bowl. That’s when they get the shake and return from me. Shake the bowl, and return it. Now it’s nearly full. This tends to produce glares from the kitties.
“Some cats’ whiskers may be more sensitive than others; if you observe your cat eating their food directly from the middle and refusing to touch the food on the outsides, it may be because their whiskers brush up against the side of the bowl and cause irritation and discomfort, called whisker stress or whisker fatigue.”
