Why would any grade school student vote to have a surprise quiz? It’s possible that for some reason some of them may not want to get ice cream, unlikely but possible

I suppose Lactose Intolerance might be a factor.

And now, you’ve learned a harsh lesson in gerrymandering!!

I have never before seen such a simple and effective description of Gerrymandering before. The mean little MAGA kid is icing on the cake. The only thing I see wrong is that the colours should be swapped. The pop quiz people should be red, the ice cream people should be blue. That would bring it more in line with real life gerrymandering.

For the subset of people who are going to take this cartoon far too literal I have a thought for you to ponder:

Before class the teacher pulled 10 of the kids aside explaining to them that everyone would get ice cream at the conclusion of this lesson, perhaps on their Friday? All they had to do was vote the way she told them to in the meantime.

How many of them would have protested the results if they had been the other way around?

You can use the same kind of grouping to explain ranked choice voting or proportional representation as well. Given that is how we are going to be voting (ranked choice) I suppose now I will have to listen to both the ice cream and the quiz kids to really decide who should be my first choice and who my second.
