When I was a teenager I would carve bars of soap with whatever was handy—tableware and popsicle sticks ground to various profiles on the sidewalk were most common. I may still have a rather nice horsehead carefully wrapped in keenix somewhere in one of my memory boxes … hmmm, maybe it’s time to sort through those boxes.
Do folks carry pocketknives any longer? I’ve been carrying one for more than fifty years, preferably lockbacks (Buck, Boker, and finally Benchmade, or an Old Timer if I’m not in working clothes.)
A good soap sculpture is a useful work of art. Even the waste material is still valuable. I wonder if there is a museum for soap Art sculpture. Maybe right next to the ice sculpture museum?

Adam has FAR too much time on his hands.

This seems safe enough to me. Most likely they just end up with smaller bars of soap. Some may even be thought of as ‘petite’.

I see black shoe polish and a jail break in their future.

Adam is a ball of phobias. At least he was able to work through the roller coaster one. What others will we learn about?

We teach Cub Scouts to carve starting out with bars of Ivory soap and knives made with Popsicle sticks and clothes pins…

Use a Dremel tool for carving, or a WEN (better & cheaper).

Waste of good soap.

Carving soap is not a bad way to start. However, in carving, your knives have to be sharp. Accidents come from dull knives actually…,
