Played golf ā€˜tuther day and one of the guys who is considerably younger, ripped a long high drive right down the middle of the fairway. To no one in particular I just said, "Wow! Thatā€™s how I wanna hit the ball when I grow up!" His wife heard me and just about blew a snot bubble from laughing so hard. Tru story!

For me, not much time left. Iā€™ve grown up ā€¦ and out. Soon enough Iā€™ll grow daisies.

    Thatā€™s not a plugger thing, thatā€™s a human thing.

Take heart anyway dog dude, Raymond Chandler didnā€™t get published until he was 50.

When I was younger, I was told I was born 35 yo. So, I was a grownup from the git-go.

Iā€™m over 60 and Iā€™ve had a book idea in my head for over 4 decades

Nothing has ever been written down, but Iā€™ve told so many people so many stories about my non book that it seems like Iā€™ve written it

As Paula Poundstone observed," Adults ask children what they want to be when they grow up because theyā€™re looking for ideas for themselves."

I was going to write a novel, but the greatest opening lines such as, ā€œIt was a dark and stormy nightā€ and the ā€œIt was the best of times, it was the worst of times,ā€ or ā€œIt was a hobbit holeā€ were already taken so I gave up.

I was just at the doctor and learned I donā€™t have much time left. 30, 35 years tops. I am devastated, I just turned 696 months old and thought I had plenty of time.

Growing older is inevitable; growing up is optionalā€¦

Since retiring, Iā€™ve thought about starting a second career. The closest to doing both would be to get my CDL and do cross-country. But I realize I am enjoying retirement very much and love my camping, 4-wheeling with our SxS, and motorcycling.

Iā€™ve done everything from pick tobacco in North Carolina to working on a free-electron laser in California ā€“ danced the belly dance and wrote political speeches. I still havenā€™t found the thing Iā€™m really good at but I keep trying. :)

When I was growing up I wanted to be Santa, an honest politician or an honest lawyer but since none of them exist I gave up
