I love these “retro style” Working Daze comics. I always liked the Jimmy Hatlo comics, even if I didn’t understand some of them when I was a kid. By the way, I’m also very fond of the 1940’s clothing styles. Dana and Sue are looking really good here.
I didn’t get the reference of suburb houses being like orange crates. If it is about size, then aren’t city apartments generally smaller and crate like?
I like the little background bits, like the “hot off the press” sheet on fire, the octopus in the water cooler, and the sign next to the window. The ad in the paper and spigot on the radiator are nice touches, too, along with the balloons and ape outside. There is so much going on, I may have missed something.

Love the octopus in the water cooler. Very funny! XD Also love King Kong’s cameo appearance. (This is King Kong’s 90th anniversary.)
