Driving Left of Center is grounds for a ticket in Missouri. Ever since I was old enough to drive I’ve had a Star Trek fantasy moment when I got behind some putz in the passing lane who would NOT get out of the way. I wanted to blast them with Photon Torpedoes & have a Force Field around me as I drove through their wreckage! On YouTube there’s a song “Get out of the Left Lane You Stupid Sumbitc*” I think it’s by Alabama Red? It’s pretty crude, but if you ever hear it once, you’ll be yelling it the next time you’re behind one of the left-lane drivers!
How many times have you gradually overtaken a car ahead of you only for its driver to step on the gas and match your speed as you begin to pass that car? You find yourself suddenly in a race with that car, forced to keep increasing your speed until that driver no longer wants to continue to accelerate.
The driver who raced you immediately returns to the speed he was traveling at before you began the passing maneuver a half mile or so back, you can finally reduce your speed to the rate your cruise control had been set on previously, and the totally unnecessary — not to mention potentially dangerous — highway drama finally ends.
In Albuquerque, passing the dozing left lane driver on his right will insult his overgrown sense of machismo and you’ll have to deal with his road rage for the next two miles.
Silicon Valley here… The 280 freeway often runs around 80 MPH in the left lane, 70 MPH in the middle lane, and the right lane that’s supposed to be 65 MPH is often used by a screaming fast car to get ahead of all of the others NOT going fast enough.

it’s always entertaining to watch how the speed demons try to deal with the nimrods who occupy the passing lane, blocking progress… ☺
