Flashback to the Snoopy jack-in-the-box I got for Christmas in the mid 60s. I learned you could turn the handle backward and it worked the same, while playing “Doggy in the Window” backward.

The score is: Snoopy one, Jack zero. …….and so it shall remain.

Snoopy mauled Jack.

Every time I see a jack-in-the-box, I can’t help but think of the “It’s a Good Life” episode from the original “Twilight Zone” series.

Don’t mess with Snoopy.

I have both an ordinary Jack in the box and a Snoopy in the box.

Having a Beagle dog, that is normal behavior!

Jack will spring no more surprises! :)

Now imagine showing it to the cat next door.

Poor Jack-in-the-Box just popped his last pop.

That joke did not go as planned.

Who the heck is that? He kind of looks like Shermy, but not.

That’s what you get for scaring Snoopy.

I actually saw this happen in real life. A smaller dog, more nervous than Snoopy, and it scared hell out of the child with the jack-in-the-box (my niece, now in her 30s; we comforted her, and her parents had to buy her a new one, and counsel her NOT to play it near the dog), but it WAS quite funny.

We also had fun bringing small beach balls into the house and tossing them to the dog to see how long they would last.

What seems strange to me is that does not really look like a jack-in-the-box; not crank handle, and Shermie seems to be standing way too far back to have controlled it.
