Don’t bother, Cathy. In six months there’ll be a new model and you’ll just have to buy it!

I have a Motorola Moto G smart phone that I bought two years ago on a $10.00 a month payment plan added to my bill. Last December, I made my last payment so that’s ten dollars off my bill for this month. I hope to hang on to my phone for the rest of 2024, and then maybe replace it with something like a Samsung Galaxy or a Google Pixel. I did buy a refurbished Samsung tablet last month though.

Nope! No extended warranty… they’re almost never worth it. Although I do like the way Europe is moving towards requiring companies to provide the ability to repair their products. Shouldn’t have to throw things away if they can be fixed.

Hello Cathy friends! Happy Thursday! Have a great day, all!

A company has ALL the statistics on component failure from the moment the product was designed. It is fundamentally unfair to make the customer guess how likely the product is to fail. An honest company has higher-priced products so that the known percentage of repair/replacement is already figured in and can offer a longer warranty.

Cathy’s expression in the last panel is exactly how I feel when offered an extended warranty. The only warranty extension I purchase is when I buy a new vehicle as I do tend to keep them well beyond the usual 5 year term.

Thursday sunset already??? Where did the day go? I hope everyone enjoyed it.

So, in essence, what you’re REALLY saying (without coming right out and actually saying it), Mr. Electronic Gadget Salesman, is that the $329.00 “trusted, brand-name, ultra-sophisticated, state-of-the-art, premiere-quality, precision instrument” you’re selling her is basically just a piece of junk that’s going to “fall apart” in a year (or maybe even less)?

Even though women are just as capable of knowing everything there is to know about tech gadgets as men are, Cathy, unfortunately, is NOT one of these women. She may think she is because she did a “little bit of research” before she got there, but she really isn’t so while they may currently be “off” yet again when it comes to their romantic relationship, I think this is where she needs to give Irving a call and ask for his advice. He loves tech gadgets of every kind and is extremely savvy where they’re concerned so he’d probably be more than happy to lend his expertise on this subject in order to help her find the right PDA for her wants and needs — maybe even for less than what she’s about to pay for this one. Anyone with even half a brain has to know that you’ve got a (potential) problem with what you’re buying when even the salesman himself sounds like he’s got absolutely no confidence whatsoever that the product he’s selling you will last beyond the first 12 months!
