Assume, assume, assume! You know what they say about assume – ASS-U-ME!

This reminds me of a story from an old IT support Newsgroup (Remember those?) where a shop in Mall was selling modems with the slogan “All you need to get on the Internet.” So this IT support guy goes to this customer’s house to see what’s wrong with the set up, and discovers the guy had no computer, just the modem.

The manual Cathy has is called “EZ Set UP”. They probably assumed the customer would be a systems administrator when they gave it that title.

Wasn’t there a tax form called “E-Z” ? First time I read it, I thought, " E-Z" ? H-A, H-A!"

And this is one of the reasons that many like Apple products. They are pretty easy to use and set up.

From what I have heard in many cases after sales support has not gotten any better since this strip was created.

He just “assumed” you would give him your money and leave…the only real goal.

I’ll join the crowd here saying “Never assume—you’ll make [one of those] out of U and ME” …

I’m just gonna back away slowly from angry comic Cathy in the last panel, too, with my hands raised in self-defense. Ha.
