Very reminiscent of the story of Jonah and the Gourd Vine from the Biblical book of Jonah. I became convinced (a lifetime ago) that it is one of the earliest examples of a very deliberately funny “tall tale” …albeit one created with the goal of improving human life. Oh, the whole swallowing by the giant fish bit is funny enough… but God’s practical joke with the gourd vine is exquisite.
