Once again, Dad is being the sensible one about the tree!

Maybe Mom should saw it, drag it, lift it, shove it….never mind. She can probably do it.

I’m counting on Wallace to say the right thing as he points to the treeless stumps… “If people keep doing this, how will this forest look when I have kids of my own?”

Woodsman spare that tree

In youth it sheltered me

The boys are too mesmerized to speak! Doesn’t happen often…

I’ll take a guess. They’re going to find something living in the tree and choose not to cut it down.

Longest I’ve seen the boys stand still.

Will Henry cut the tree, that is the question

Be strong, Dad. That beautiful, LARGE tree deserves to stay right where it is.

If they do get it home it’ll be St Patrick’s Day before they get it decorated.

It’d be easier to build their house around the tree.

Those orange marks around the tree must be the tree sensing imminent DANGER!! I would not call them “so excited to be cut down” marks….

I believe they are building a house from a tree. Rockefeller Center or White house tree??

Possible solution: They work this so it becomes a Snug Harbor Community Tree. Decorate it where it stands, and let it live !! … :)

Decorate that tree to the hilt, power it ‘somehow’ and admire it from your warm home, because surely you, all of Snug Harbor, will be able to see it as well. Plus it will be nice for the local Big Foot population to gather around.

I don’t beleaf the size of that tree!

The gender-swapped Griswalds!

Saw a program on PBS about tree for US Capital the other night. Learned that permits are available for members of the public to cut a tree in National Forests. But this tree is too big for US Forest Service’s Christmas tree guidelines for trees from National Forests – “Select a tree with a trunk six inches or less in diameter, * Never cut a tall tree just for the top.” Tree for Capital was larger, but they used two cranes to load Capital’s tree onto flatbed truck. Don’t think Mom has that equipment – Dad sure doesn’t.
