I believe it was in an old Gasoline Alley strip where one of the characters said he liked Spring better because in Winter you could see all the roadside litter.
Some people leave their Christmas lights up all year, but they stop turning them on when the season is over.
Years ago a local radio station announced that because of a town ordinance home owners who had not taken down their decorations by the end of March would be required to pay a $100 fine. The police station and town hall phones started to get calls from angry residents who didn’t know about this new rule. The reason they didn’t know was because it was an April Fool’s joke by the radio station announcers (who got in trouble for it).
Our lights, Christmas or otherwise, can be disruptive to nocturnal animals who live on this earth with us. Blue lights affect our night vision. IMHO, we have too many lights all year long.
I realize that many people like more hours of daylight and have good reasons to feel that way. But I wish we could always have the hours of light and darkness we have at this time of year.

I wish that we all would be able to keep our Christmas lights on through January. It would make these dark nights so much prettier.
