That was exactly how I felt about homework.

Don’t push it, Agnes. Grandma has opened the book for you. That may be as far as she is willing go with her help.

Agnes is talking about fanning the flames of ambition Grandma may fan Agnes’s fanny into flames to provide Agnes with the necessary ambition.

Agnes is certainly an eloquent speaker at least.

Grandma is a bit humorless. Poor Agnes.

Good Grandma to be there for Agnes. Make sure she does the work, instill that ethic.

Next it’ll be no paper, then no thesaurus, and on and on.

I was somewhat like Agnus; I would procrastinate until it was too late. I was smart enough to get B’s and C’s just doing the minimum. Didn’t learn self-discipline until much later in life and I still struggle with it. Good luck Agnus!

It’s going to be a long and hilarious effort!

I always use ink so if I made a mistake I could draw a single line through it and keep going without forgetting that I had made a mistake.

Maybe Grandma needs to take a belt to Agnes’s posterior

let’s hope that such a flying start of encouragement doesn’t briskly whisk agnes high over the bonfire of steel resolve and leave her to crash and burn despondently in the deep, dark pool of endless procrastination…
