Almost saw one last night. Guy walking across street in middle of block, no street lights, head down staring into his phone, wearing dark clothes. Fortunately car in front of me saw him and let him pass.
A school nurse I know said that 75% of the freshman class there failed their hearing tests. She now has to retest all of them, but it has to be after an hour of zero headphone/earbud use. Even those who survive their lack of situational awareness will suffer from lifelong tinnitus and hearing loss.
The OU basketball coach in Norman. had a law named after him when he was jogging with earphones and got hit by a car. Very minor injuries though thankfully. At least the driver of the car was alert.

Frazz is being conservative. There probably are at least 2 to 3 of every 5 students who will wear earbuds at every opportunity.
Self-absorption is not a remedy for what ails a person. It only delays resolution.

If you don’t get the number on the plate of the car that hit you …
… does it really count as getting hit.

Yes the tree makes a sound, even if no one hears it. Sound is the vibration of air molecules.

I don’t know, if they might feel the car hitting them.

Hilarious! I’ll never look at an earbud the same.

Caulfield, Caulfield. The people who need that message won’t hear it. Put it in writing.

Best to not allow cars in places where people are trying to walk
