Seagull would like a bite. It’s funny that the sandwiches are real.

I hope it’s not as fetid as his last sandwich.

Gary’s hat. It has a tassel like a fez but otherwise resembles a standard bellhop’s cap. Is he perhaps an Arabic, Turkish, Moroccan bellhop?

Spud is good at multitasking like that. Very ingratiating of him.

Give Seagull a bite!

I think Gary the sandwich artist is my favorite occasional comic character since Mr. Danders.

I love the detail in Gary and Spud’s expressions.

I love how Gary fills the panel in dimensions, color and personality :D Can’t ignore Gary! Munch, munch

Had to look back at the first panel to see the sandwich in Spud’s hands..

That’s the second “friend” who almost caused him death on the playground this week! Keep your feet on the ground Wallace.

In honor of Gary’s prolific sandwich making activities and the geographic origins of his fez-like hat… I’m thinking of posting a recipe for Moroccan chicken sandwiches. There are so many different kinds… hard to settle on a particular one. One with salt-preserved lemons is pretty appealing.

Looks like Gary scared Seagull, too.

OH! An imaginary friend! But… wow, that’s the most unusual I’ve ever heard of. And he serves real sandwiches?

What are the little colored balls along the bottom of panel 2? Fence posts?

He can be my friend any day. Both of them….

Seagull is fully prepared for any sandwich droppage, imaginary or not.

I think Spud is projecting Gary on his mom, who fusses about what he eats and fixes his sandwiches.

Gary actually does look a little cross in this one…

Which begs the question. Why would scaredy cat Spud choose Gary for an imaginary friend? Oh well, maybe he isn’t picky as long as his imaginary friends bring him a sandwich.
