When President Trump was in office, he levied so many sanctions on Iran that their annual revenue dropped from around $100 billion to about $3 billion. As a result, Iran’s funding of terrorism and proxy wars dried up which is why by the end of his term in office terrorist actions in the Middle East had been dramatically reduced. As soon as Biden took office he reversed President Trump’s actions against Iran and lifted the sanctions. Within a year Iran’s yearly income rose to almost $100 billion again, which is now why we are seeing the massive increase in terrorist activity again. Hamas 10/7 massacre, Hezbollah restarting missile and ground attacks, Iran proxy attacks against American forces in Syria and Iraq, the Houthis with their attacks on Red Sea shipping etc. This is what happens when you go from a tough hardline posture with significant sanctions under President Trump, to a weak policy of appeasement under Biden.
