She became a target when she stood by the first amendment rather than taking sides in the genocide perpetrated by the Zionist right, which many ignorantly refer to as ‘anti-semitism’…
I have recently done two degrees as a mature student and got praised for my referencing. (I have been doing the same in work for decades: writing papers based on research and referencing my sources.)
Having read half a dozen news stories about Claudine Gay’s plagiarism, I get the impression either the USA or Harvard is sloppy about referencing and quotes compared to the two universities I attended.
The cliches she used are fine, but copy and paste of other people’s works should have been recognised, picked up and challenged at the time. Even the middle ground that some are defending – classic phrases and sentences in a particular field – should be credited or quoted rather than presented as original thought.
Add to that being unable to make statements that can be misconstrued on a very sensitive subject, and it is clear she is not up to the job she was in. Neither as an academic nor as a leader. Regardless of sex and skin colour.
It’s just a shame when these things happen that is gives ammunition to attack other people in minorities who are rising to the top.
You must understand that Ms. Gay was NOT terminated for having an opinion – she was terminated for having THE WRONG opinion!
“House Nig – ahem- Blacks” have ALWAYS had their place in America – as long as they KNEW their place, and SHE unfortunately seems to have forgotten hers.
Incidentally, plagiarism is the direct copying, word-for-word of another’s thoughts – paraphrasing, while being frowned upon, IS NOT plagiarism!
She was fired for multiple instances of plagiarism in her academic work (in non-academic terms, for fraud, lying and cheating). She was not fired for her anti-semitic “opinions,” and would still be on the job if her plagiarism had not been discovered. As to the Harvard students, I expect that many of them agree only too well with opinions.
If a Harvard President said anything negative against Islam, fat people, any minority with a high melanin concentration, or women, (s)he would have been fired that day.Change my mind.

An “opinion” that calling for genocide against Jews and ONLY against Jews, is fine. And the plagiarism.
If it had been Black people, Queer people, Muslims,Mexicans, or the Irish it would be unacceptable. But inciting people to “Toten Juden” is fine

I’m wondering if Ms Gay didn’t really want the job?
Once the spotlight is on, you’re everybody’s target.
As Abe Lincoln once said “This job is a pain in the ärse.”
Then, Mary suggested going to the Theatre, to relax.

Sure, Jeff. She was fired for having an opinion.

It wasn’t just her statements on speech. Her plagiarism is serious for someone in her position.

Right, a Black woman couldn`t possibly do anything wrong. It had to be racism.
