This strip would be funnier if there was no dialogue in the last panel. Just have the two give each other knowing looks. Anyone who’s read the strip knows the answer.Sometimes less is more.
The only thing that seeing Mother Gargle’s shadow means is there’s way too much light being used in your house, Brutus. Turn off some lights, save money and maybe, get lucky.
I’m sure she thinks of you the same way only more towards the comforting way of dealing with the storm… I mean why else would she treat him the way she does.
Brutus knows 6 weeks is unduly optimistic. That is going to be a part of his life till death do them part! Hopefully she doesn’t kill Brutus before he has the pleasure of going to her funeral!
Maybe she would go home if he offered to pay her heating bill. She could have turned the heat way down and then gone to stay with Brutus to save money. This time, anyway.

Brutus’ time with Uncle Ted is paying off or he’s taking Valium. Early “Mellow Fellow” indeed.

If a groundhog saw its shadow, wouldn’t that mean that the sun was out? The prediction seems backwards to me. Why is it so, as Julius would ask?

Our poor hero will wind up getting both. Six more weeks of winter and six more weeks of Mother Gargle.

I enjoy the good-natured ribbing of this comic strip; but dis-respecting a grandmother to the grandson is below standards.

Even her shadow has evil powers. Satan incarnate it would seem. May all the Angels and Saints protect you….

Careful Brutus….if she hears your joke those frosty conditions will last way longer than six weeks.
