Out back for a smoke, eh? How casual that remark must’ve seemed back in 2001. Last week, while walking across a grocery-store parking lot, I encountered someone coming the other way smoking a cigaret. It seemed odd. It’s been literally years since I’ve seen anything like it. Wouldn’t bother me in the least if it’s decades before I see it again.
Not on-topic, but has Trudeau ever depicted the circumstances under which Duke became a family friend of the Harrises (which is why Zonker addresses him as “Uncle Duke,” not because Duke is his actual uncle but because that’s what he called Duke as a child; calling the friends of one’s parents “uncle” and “aunt” is fairly common among children)? Duke used to be a lot different, so perhaps he had more in common with the Harrises back then.
