I watched a video on a bunch of hit songs that are turning 50 in 2024. My reaction was “weren’t they hot just a while ago?”. Time doesn’t fly… it time-warps,
The passage of time hits all of us this way eventually. Old movies are now from the 80s, not from the 40s, as they were when I was growing up. TV shows I grew up with are on the “classic TV” channels. And watching reruns of some of those favorite programs (M*A*S*H is a perfect example), I can’t help but think of how old even the last episodes are — never mind the more dreadful realization of how old the oldest ones are.
The only way I’ve found to fight it is to not get old — yes, I’m getting older, but I refuse to get old.

I guess that does sound better that saying 40 years ago.

Good music back then.

I know the feeling. Someone says 30 years ago and I’m thinking 1970 something. Then the shock sets in and I have to pour something and sit down.

Obviously a lot of younger people love as well or they wouldn’t rip it of for ads and rifts

From the moon landing to now is just about the same period of time as from the start of World War 1 to the moon landing. Where does the time go?

Yeah, I have moments like that.

I tell people that I like the Jeopardy category “The 20th Century” since I was around for more than half of it.
When I was born, there were still Civil War veterans alive.
I do not feel old unless I look back. So I don’t look back.

I have a strong memory of walking into my bedroom in 1964 (65?) just in time to see the moon landing on the TV. Wow! how far we’ve come!

Worse: all the things I’ve been saying happened “about ten years ago”, actually happened forty years ago.
