I have an old Frank and Ernest cartoon where one character tells the other, “I’m going to be a great writer, just bought a new typewriter. All I need to do is figure out which keys to hit!” (okay, paraphrasing and clearly very old)
An earlier lexicographer, Samuel Johnson, came up with some great definitions.
Network: Any thing reticulated or decussated, at equal distances, with interstices between the intersections. [Interesting how the use of words changes, isn’t it?]
Reticulated: Made of network; formed with interstitial vacuities.
I don’t know how he defined decussated. Of course, I looked it up elsewhere, but I’m sure his definition would have been more colorful.
Which leads me to the thought of an Ikea furniture assembly sheet. Letters, and it’s up to you to put them in the right order to assemble your DIY knickknacks.

It’s finding the right words that’s the problem.

I am still amazed at how and why Mr W did this.

If I had to choose one book to be stranded on an island with, it would be the dictionary. Lots to read and learn, but alas, no plot.

I am amazed at how many people writing on Internet sites (like this) still can’t spell correctly, even with “autocorrect.”
