I think it was almost like 9-11, we all know where we were then. We missed it; but we were on our honeymoon, camping in the bottom of the Grand Canyon.
In late 1969 – months after the moon landing – I happened to be at the CBS News studio in New York City where they had a replica of the lunar landing module. I was amazed at how small and compact it was, and how cramped those astronauts would have been.
There was not a scintilla of wasted space. It was truly a remarkable piece of engineering for the time.
It gave me a sense of pride knowing that my Dad had been involved in developing and producing the electronic circuit boards they used.

Like most governments, they kept the best tech to themselves. So yes, I believe we landed on the moon.

Literally millions of TV remotes were sold in the 60s. The infra-red remote became popular in the 80s.
