here in japan, store employees are trained to call out “welcome” when any customers enter the perimeter. except at costco, where most employees apparently undergo sullenness training and do their utmost to ignore customers. note i said “most” – there are lots of friendly employees, too…

This is so true of some of todays help….not enough training, don’t want to really be there, and not enough supervision!

Actually, in my experience, it’s the customers that usually have an attitude. The clerks are mostly great people.
