Cars rumble by my place with the volume turned all the way to max. with every panel of the car rattling!!! I wonder how many screws, fasteners, and grommets itās lost since the idiot started that!!!
There are actually competitions to see who can load the loudest speakers into their car. Decibels are measured from outside the car ā and the car is not moving and there is no driver in it, the noise level is literally deafening/dangerous. No back seat, space is taken up with multiple speakers. (I imagine they keep the systems on 1 when actually driving.)
Reminds me of a different sort of problem with the early Ford Falcons (yep, long ago). The ads made a big deal of āunibody constructionāā¦ the body cast in one piece rather than several pieces fastened to each other.
But that campaign was brief, and never heard from again. Why? With no joints to damp out vibrations, the car could achieve a resonant frequency and try to shake itself apart. Thatās not just an urban legend. I rode across the country with a friend who owned one. Itās resonant frequency was reached at 70 mph. That kept us under the speed limit on Interstates ā 70 mph back then ā without having to look at the speedometer.
Itās a competition to see which can irritate me moreā¦that or the people who think that a party (and the music that goes with it) should last until two or three in the morningā¦
One of the many concerning things about music that loud is that the driver and occupants cannot hear approaching emergency equipment, or other traffic sounds that might indicate a potential danger such as screeching tires. The inability to hear these things poses a risk not only to themselves but other drivers as well.
When I was living in Arizona there was a local noise ordinance that if the car stereo could be heard more than 50 feet from the vehicle, OR affected the driverās ability to hear an approaching emergency vehicle at a distance of 1/4 mile (approximately 2 city blocks) the police could impound the stereo on the spot.
I live on a main drag and the motorcycles are blowing by and revvving it ā¦.my neighbor and his son across the street are A-holes and revv their cycles for 20 minutes before taking off! When will some men grow up and be considerate of the people around them? ā¹ļø
there are three vehicles that go by our house that do this. 11 pm 1 am and 2 am. Like clockwork. Cops donāt care. maybe before we move next month I will do a little after dark skulking. when the windows shake and the floors rumble and you are 40ft set back from the street and the cops donāt care, well just saying ā oh and by the way we have a law that says if you can be heard 15 ft from your vehicle with your windows close you are in violation of the city noise law.

Recently, my neighborhood has installed Speed Bumps, in an attempt to curtail speeding along a road leading to a highway.
Hope it helps, because the noise is just awful during warm weather.

Is it wrong to wish that at least (just) their stereo system would blow up?

Worse yet is the fact that these people are damaging their hearing and will be considered disabled in the future.
