    I once had a boss who overdosed daily with a cologne that had a very overpowering sweet, cloying scent. You could smell him before you saw him. It was enough to make you gag.

    No amount of subtle hints – a bottle of a different cologne for his birthday, for example – fell on dead olfactories.

    I was his second-in-command and even told him point-blank on several occasions that his scent was too strong. He would never change. The sad thing was that other than the malolor he was a terrific boss and everyone loved working for him.
