Two thoughts. One, as a fanboy I am amazed it took this long to find out that ‘John Wayne Comics’ were a thing.

The other thought is the giant blind spot I [and I assume many others had] regarding the ‘woman hating’ manly men who prefered life on the open plains [or on ships or in barracks]
