Coming Soon 👀 At the beginning of April, you’ll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
This Andy Capp strip reminds me of a Calvin and Hobbes strip in which Calvin was complaining about the lack of role models in modern society. “Political leaders? We’re lucky when they don’t land in jail!”
I’m not sure why Andy’s ABOUT is bolded and italicized. Is that the word one would stress in that question? I’ve heard the phrase spoken with YOU or ON stressed.
Just consulted the Andy Capp archivers in exile and it’s confirmed, this is a very close replica of an earlier strip. The only difference being the guy in the next cell was his Lawyer.
“Guard! Guard! I demand to see my ambassador! Easily done, he’s in the next cell.”—- The Firesign Theater “Waiting For the Electrician or Someone Like Him” 1968

I guess there’s as much corruption in English politics as in American.

One of our past Presidents was asked what rouges & thieves he had met with lately. “The Cabinet,” came the reply.

So a Member of Parliament and a US Member of Congress on same level of corruption? Think the USA “ranks” even lower in honesty.

MP got caught with his pants down — not unlike some of our politicians on this side of the pond.

I did NOT expect that!
In the strip, I mean. In real life? Hmm. Maybe ;-)
