From what I’ve been reading recently he was indeed a genuine tru-blu αsshole, complete with slavery and pedophilia. With disfiguration. Or doesn’t it count if they’re young slaves, so not entirely human, by law?

I’ve had a thought that might serve to begin to solve the Israeli vs Hamas problem, and I’m proud to say it is an American solution that has been proven to work.

A quick bit of history – well – recent history. After WWII, the allies needed a place to send the Concentration Camp survivors (Jews) – and no one wanted them to come to their countries – so they sent them to Palestine – which was their homeland a couple of thousand years ago, give or take a few years. The people that were living there at that time were mostly of the Islamic faith – let’s just call them Palestinians. The Palestinians didn’t want to give up their land, but they were forced to do so by the mighty (and heavily armed) allied-backed Jewish incursion that kept pushing them away into certain areas. Things were set to calm down, but then the Palestinians were relegated to second-class citizenry, and found little employment or acceptance in the newly formed Israel. Thus they were mostly impoverished and discriminated against. There were a few uprises, but they were mostly kept down, under the thumb of the Israeli government.

Now read the previous paragraph, and this time put “Native Americans” where Palestinians are mentioned, and “American Settlers” where Jews are mentioned. (I’ll wait)

To fix the American problem, Native American tribes were permitted, by the American government, to allow gambling within their specific areas, called reservations.

At the time of this permission, Americans could only gamble in the State of Nevada – and somewhat later – in the State of New Jersey.

The result was the building of many casinos on tribal land – and permitted the free flow of American gamblers’ dollars into the tribal communities. Problem solved.

Israel is ripe to rectify their situation with this solution – Gambling is not permitted in Israel – but permitting gambling in Palestinian-controlled areas (Gaza and the West Bank) would be, I think, a relatively easy trade-off in the Knesset – (What do you want? Bloodshed or a simple, mostly out-of-sight fix?) So call Gaza and the West Bank sovereign reservations within the Israeli Homeland, already!

The Koran (the Islamic Holy Book) does not permit gambling, but there is an exception if it’s an absolute sure thing. (Really!)

Let me suggest that it would take an absolute moron to lose money on a casino . . .

Can’t figure out why so many Italians want to claim this jerk. He wasn’t even Italian. Most likely from Portugal. Historians have a hard time nailing him down entirely, as he was likely a criminal spending his life on the run from whatever his last crime was. It seems the main reason he wanted this voyage was to get away from debts and or other crimes. Scum bag would be too good a term for Christopher Columbus.

Couldn’t find the article alluding to his possible horrible past, but Columbus’s time in the Americas likely was far worse.

The era of Columbus and other world explorers seems to have been a glorious time to be rich and powerful. There were new lands to conquer, with new peoples to subjugate, and new riches to steal, so they could become even richer and more powerful. Things are not all that different today.

Don’t just denounce Columbus, there were plenty of them, starting with the conquistadors. A history of the Amerinds drips with such genocide.

Another in a long line of reasons why Mr Two Bulls is worthy of that Pulitzer. And why the committee was too cowardly.

There were many undocumented groups entering the Americas long before Columbus. With the negatives Columbus inadvertently brought he also brought the horse.. which enriched the indigenous life like nothing before.

Like Custer, Columbus got what he deserved on his forth voyage to America. Check out the History Channel Columbus: the lost voyage.
