Automatic transmissions are relatively new around where I live, but more and more people are changing over to them, due to our terrible stop-and-go traffic. Stick shift / manual transmission is torture in such conditions!
I taught all nine of my kids and their friends to drive a stick, not all people are good at it ,one daughter took 2 years and she still scared me because she would look down at the stick and head for the ditch, but one son in-law learned if 15 minutes and drove like a pro.
Ha! I still drive a stick shift, mind you it’s a 97 Neon so nothing to brag about. I should get into the car stealing business so I could afford a new one!

And that is why nobody steals a standard shift car.

Seen on the wheel cover on the back of an SUV, the outline of a gearshift pattern and the words: “Millenial Anti-Theft Device.”

I wonder if I’d still be able to drive a standard, given that I haven’t driven in 20+ years.

I taught my daughters, and a friend. I loved it, but now, my knees and hips tell me, don’t even think about it.

to be fair, if the battery’s good, you can lunge forward a few feet, kill it, restart it, lunge forward a few feet,………….

You can get bumper stickers saying your car is equipped with a Millennial anti-theft device, with a picture of a shifter pattern.
