On our first date I brought future wife to a place that I’d seen on a state map of Connecticut called Castle Craig. It turned out to be a graffiti-covered stone tower full of broken beer bottles and used condoms. It’s a wonder I ever got a second date.
Solitude is further away for city dwellers. But there are places to to go. There’s a small park between two more popular destinations. I have only seen others there only a few times. A perfect place to pull yourself together. A dense grove of old pine trees at it’s heart and a river on one side.
I live in a humongous city, Mexico City, but I can still find places in my neighborhood where I can indulge my occasional need for solitude, in particular, a tiny park two blocks from my apartment.

The problem is people are so dumb they tell all their friends about their “special place”. They tell their friends …
