I’m reminded of my fist wife, who used to tell the microwave oven to hurry.

I’ve gotten my timing down well enough that I can usually count down with it and be right within a second, even if my back’s turned.

I have an admittedly silly competition with my microwave to cancel the timer juuust at the very last second before the beeep goes off. :). (I do that with the oven, too.)

Microwave ovens have leaks about half the time; and it can be in front or in back. I know because I test them. One should stay at least six feet away to avoid getting cataracts, or similar problems.

If that was me, the coffee mug would be in the microwave, not in my hand.

Anybody that uses a microwave likely feels same.

Read GoComics while your meal is microwaving — it’s done before you know it!

What is worse is waiting for the washer, dryer to finish, seems like the last minute takes 10 minutes, especially if you are at a laundromat.

Notice that they are programmed so the handle on a cop always stops in the back without regard to time entered.

I do push offs while waiting for the microwave to ding on my coffee warm up.

Push Off: A 45 degree push up done about 3 feet away from the counter. A towel recommended to cushioning of the edge of the countertop.

Can usually get in about 16 before the ding.

Bonus: Rotate your head to the left and right each time to limber up those neck muscles.

I rarely use the microwave. I prefer to actually cook the food.

Am I an old person who cooks over a fire? Well… not at home. But for a number of years I cooked for our reenactment unit – demonstration for the public and mid day dinner for us. The older women (I was not one then) who used to cook were not coming to events any longer and as the only woman on the board I was asked “can you do a cooking demo”. I replied honestly – “I know the theory, but have never done so. I can cook, but can’t guarantee it will be edible.” I cooked for the unit for about 10 years – maybe more until a fellow joined who wanted to cook. I now get to sit on my rear end and demonstrate embroidery again.
