This strip is from 1970 – not 1977. GoComics skipped the April 6th 1977 strip; I guess Snoopy’s observation about hitting a “housewife” with a badly-aimed golf ball was deemed inappropriate.
WELL…I KNEW IT! Thanks to the skipped 1977 Snoopy plays at the Masters arc strip with mentioning in it “Hit a housewife” we get today for newspapers and sites the January 20, 1970 Peanuts strip. Could it be the “Hit a housewife” strip is POLITICALLY INCORRECT for today’s world? I hope 1977 Peanuts strips resume tomorrow and Monday!!!
It would be difficult, if not impossible, to do in the style of Schultz, but I’d love to see Peanuts 20 years in the future – Lucy and Schroeder pair up, Sally and Linus, maybe even Charlie Brown and Violet.
I prefer how this was presented in The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show. It starts with Lucy yelling “That does it!” before saying what she does in panel 2. If all that had been in panel 1, with panel 2 just showing her smiling waiting for the kiss, I think the humour would’ve hit harder.

I’ll bet Schroeder decided to play I’m Not In Love by 10cc on his piano.

I’m beginning to understand some of the inspiration for Cul-de-Sac’s Alice.
