There was a movie theatre in Seattle that showed a lot of art films — I remember that I would read the reviews carefully and avoid anything that inspired the word “glacial”. As in “The plot unfolds at a delicately glacial pace . . .”
I trust that the possible implication in the first panel — that Missy knows he had wanted to marry her despite thinking she’s not good — is not intended!
It’s like he’s held up a mirror to my life complete with the conversation I have with my wife on a regular basis. Who doesn’t enjoy a well made B movie? Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers and Zombie Strippers are 2 Classics.
I often think of “The Bad Lieutenant”. I won’t say it’s a “bad movie”, but when it was over I was frustrated, slightly confused and felt like I should shower.

For different reasons, my preteen hated Forbin (the bad guy won!) and War of the Worlds (that’s it? That’s what killed them?). I loved them both.

Brings to mind Steve Macdonald’s song “I Just Love Those Old B-Movies” – complete with the female of the species Just Not Getting It.

I’m reminded of the movie Layer Cake, where the protagonist winds up being shot by a minor character at the end, right out of nowhere.

She can take some comfort in the fact that he seems to have good taste in women.

Come on Meyer! You have one (possibly) job to do! To once a week, be wryly amusing. 10’s of people (possibly) are counting on you.
