It’s a good thing it takes so many years to become a plugger. Today’s youth couldn’t handle it. It takes a lot of years of experience and experiences to become a worthwhile plugger. It is too bad young people mock and reject pluggers. We could have kept this country from the mess it is in if they had listened to us years ago. But then, we didn’t pay any attention to the pluggers when we were young either. We all thought we knew everything in our younger days, not knowing that it is the pluggers that had it all then and have it all today! I hope there are a few younger folks that give their favorite plugger some respect, time and luvin! We earned it, we enjoy it and we deserve it. O well – some day they will be a plugger… maybe!

Part of the reason why I go for a daily walk ! The walk keeps the back in shape thus no pain ;-)

We learn how one pain can make it easier to endure another.

your tolerance to pain has to increase as you get older or you’d never make it through the day. or at least to the medicine cabinet to get some Ibuprofen, Naproxin, etc.

My pains have increased at least five fold over the last 6 months. RA pain I have been living with since age 13. No truer words than “When you begin to prefer one pain over another!”

My feet are fine, but my back and my knees are an entirely other story.

I’ll take knees over back any day. The hips are constant, so can’t trade them out.

I’m a plugger…I have neuropathy, so part of my feet hurt, part of my feet can’t feel a thing. I have gout flareups as well. I throw my back out often. I have headaches often. I have shoulder and knee pain on my left side due to a motorcycle accident. Some I have gotten used to, but when I get a headache, I feel like I can’t function.

The chronic headache was at the top of the pain scale until I injured my back, which was the highest thing on the pain scale until I injured my thigh, which was …

My back is a wreck. But my shoulder is still mostly functional with some careful stretching.

Husband is upset that if something heavy I have to carry it as he cannot.

Our reenactment unit had its annual dinner and meeting last weekend. The unit “commander” had asked the board to bring spare (modern as opposed to our period camp seat type seats) folding chairs for the event. After an hour of looking (basement? garage? shed?) we found the folding chairs we use when doing craft shows and he went to hand the metal one to me. He could not lift it. I came over and picked it up with one hand, then turned to my other side and took the plastic one. I had to give him the plastic one to carry as he was upset that I was carrying both at once and he could not lift the metal chair on his own. The chair is not anything big and bulky – just a standard metal folding chair.

I have figured out that in keeping his blood glucose on the lower side due to dealing with Diabetes his strength is sapped and explain this to him, but he is still upset.
