there was no coaxing when I was a kid, you went to bed or else. you weren’t expected to go to sleep immediately but you were expected to go to bed and stay there.
Same here. “Bedtime.” was not a request, p!ea, suggestion or anything other than an order. It only got ugly if we did, b/c it was understood, that things like that were not open to negotiation. They were considered learning to do what you have to do, whether you liked it or not. Training for having your own place to take care of and your job to support yourself.
