    True story.

It’s a nice sunny day and the driver has the top down on his red Porsche. He’s fit and tanned, about 50. As I walk behind his car I notice that the halo headrest perfectly surrounds his small bald spot. Guy spent $100,000 to roast himself.

It’s one of the milder ways to express a mid-life crisis..

We all need a black hole or two to throw our money down.

Why must people reach a certain age and feel like they need to stop doing things they like doing? I’m 67 and will not get off my bike, not stop going to Disney, wear a baseball jersey, etc. Get the car Crunchy! Nothing is more terrible than regrets over little things.

My “expired youth” contains nothing I care to reclaim. I’ve been retired 20 years and it’s been great.

At 60, I’m the proud owner of a 8-year-old Nissan 370Z, bought new in 2016. It is NOT a symptom of a mid-life crises, but rather a symptom of finally being able to afford the type of vehicle I’ve always wanted. (All of the classics are still out-of-reach, price-wise.)

Many call it “mid-life crises”, most times it is simply that you can finally afford to buy something you have always wanted.

Every time I think of buying my old 67, I remember how unsafe it would be to drive.

Not to mention a ‘71 Mach 1 in the condition of that guy’s would run in the neighborhood of $60-70,000.

Every time the guy in FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE is feeling old, he buys himself a weird-looking sports car. Worked for him.
