There is a short science fiction story where this happens: the scientists working on the time travel machine manages to ‘catch’ a person from the future. They are delighted because the man works in the future version of their facility and is a scientist and so is assumed to be knowledgeable. However when asked questions such as ‘is cancer curable?’ He replies that it is – but has no idea what the treatment is because he’s never had it. Much the same goes for their other questions – he simply doesn’t know; and they send him back none the wiser.

Idiocracy

If this person is an indication, the future may not be all that bright.

I hadn’t considered this possibility. If it time traveler from today jumped back to 1919, plenty of conversations might go like this:

Person: “So you claim to be a time traveler, eh? Prove it. Tell me who won the 1920 election.”

Time traveler: “Sorry, I have no idea.”

Person: ’What are the long-term effects of the Red Summer?"

Time traveler: “The what?”

So, not that different.

Comforting to think walking a dog is still a thing in 80 years, and time for ceramics is a bonus. Could be the world survives trump afterall.

If he is actually from 80 years in the future (how can they prove that?), it tells us that humanity — at least some of it — survives at least that long.

In 80 years, to chill is to take a cryogenic vacation.

If only. More likely the people in the future wil be spending time in virtual reality making clay pots and time travelling :)

There is no food since there are no immigrant farm workers.

Just give me the Stanley Cup champs…and the World Series…and Super Bowl…and…….
