So, the FDIC records are not all digitized and that is why Lizz was told to find out who had access to them. It makes sense if they are not all available online.

The girls are looking easy and breezy in P.3.  I hope the Pierce family serves tea and scones.

Today’s strip is kinda boring …,. so I went back to look at last week’s boring strips & saw on May 29 Lee Ebony finds that Pierce’s browser history shows a history of reading about the scandal sheet, but on June 1 Liz says she can’t find anything about it online & Sam says that’s because it has no online presence. So what was Pierce looking at? & why is this story, which had a good first week, now moving at the speed of a road grader?

A change of pace to see Lee and Liz kick it. As for the Pierce family, opportunity to look at how the other half lives.

Today’s the first time these two seemed like themselves to me. I’m used to the new Lizz, and actually like how she looks. Well done, Chucky. I think we’ll keep you. LOL!

However You don’t need to call FDIC for the documents from RTC and, in fact, they probably don’t have them. The assets of the RTC (along with the documentation pertaining there to) would have gone to whatever financial entity purchased them. That means a large bank most likely has them. (As I mentioned a week or so ago, I once did some legal temp work for a bank that had purchased the assets of three or four small institutions in the subprime mortgage crisis. Pierce had been part of the savings & loan crisis, but I’m guessing similarity in aftermath.)

But hats off for the mention of the FDIC, first attempt to regulate the banking industry to protect the assets of those savings money. Signed into law by FDR after unregulated banks collapsed in the Great Depression. Since then Republicans, who believe regulation harms business, have weakened it. Bringing us both the savings & loan crisis and the subprime crisis – with people losing all their money, or their homes, and almost killing the American economy. (I did know some people who made a ton of money while the con was going on. One killed himself when his subprime house of card collapsed.)

Oh, and I suspect the police would have an easier time getting a bank to show them the RTC documents than the FDIC. I do agree with the Republicans to the extent that Federal paperwork can be a real pain.

if RTC was a savings and loan, wouldn’t it be under FSLIC?

Going out in the field, doing interviews, has got to beat waiting in the office for some low-level federal archivist to call you back Liz, and, say he found the records you want. Of course, there’s a per-page fee for you to get a copy. And, Pat, and, Tracy, aren’t available to authorize the expense.

Maybe this will be the start of a “Law and Order”-type sequence which will bring our detectives from place to place, following clues.

Concerning the upper righthand corner of pane 1, I noticed the oval and line coming out of it makes it look a little bit like a comic strip word balloon. Maybe Eric and Charles were storyboarding some panels? :)

It was mentioned shortly after Lee was introduced that she and Lizz went through the same Police Academy class.

But Lizz started at the top while Lee bounced around doing yeoman work

OT: Gee, reminder letter in the mail tonight, telling me it’s time for me to get a colonoscopy. Uh, we did that last month. Not going though it again so soon, thank you.
