Of my jobs I was once a city carrier until injuries from VN and surgery stopped it. BUT I had a route that every morning a dog would meet me about 9am and walk with me until about noon and then go home. I loved it, but owners finally put a to it stop for fear that the dog might get hit by a car!
That’s not so bad. Got 2 next door that bark at anything that moves, including guys working 3 houses away or people walking in next block or me working in kitchen if I forget to close the blinds. Tiresome.
Neighbor said one was last of litter and barked the minute it arrived. Should have put it back.
My daughter lives on 300 acres, the front gate is about a quarter mile from the house. She has four dogs. No one comes in that gate without an intruder alert.
We are getting of an age where sometimes Hubby forgets to close the garage door. Our son installed an app on his phone that would alert him when his dad left the door open. Last night, the app alarm went off— right after our across-the-street neighbor left for work in his loud, rumbling diesel pickup. The neighbor uses the end of our driveway to turn around. Our garage door wasn’t left open.

We had a neighbor with a dog that would still be barking 20 minutes after the UPS guy left.
