King n queen make no sense in chess. Originally and even now in indic languages the piece what is called queen in English is acutually the mantri (minister) or a senapati (general).
It is meaningful battlefield game using power of mind where a king’s army is battles with opponent army and tries to protects their king (and theirs kingdom, as king is representetive). Each piece was named after something involved in the actual battlefield. King, Minister / general, horse / cavalry, chariot / camel, elephant, and if course the soldiers. The board be like battlefield where the battle is goes on involving the participants on that battlefield.
But then Europeans has to comes and renames pieces as per their whims, which makes no sense or meaning. A Bishop? Does a bishop even goes into battle on the battlefield? A Rook? A gregarious Eurasian crow with black plumage is get in battle too? You is turns elephant into a gregarious crow? A pawn? You calls yours soldiers pawns? You is pawns them for a loan or sometheeng?
Eh no thankses. We is going to uses the original names for the pieces that we was always does.

I think this would’ve been funnier using the knight… One forward, two to the side, two forward one to the side…

You can go any direction you want. It’s the knight that doesn’t take a direct route.

First: Move one step in any direction.
Next: Move one step in any direction.
Then: Move one step in any direction.

One step at a time. But no one is going to tell the King that. Ok, you can Castle, but only once lifetime (game).

Queens have the most direct movement of any of the chess pieces, so I don’t get it.

GPS doesn’t get you anywhere. It just tells you where you are right now.

Since there doesn’t appear to be any other pieces on the board, what difference does it make ?
