“Chesney, why is there no fur on your paws?” " Oh, um, yas, they was hot, so I, um, shaved them"

We had rain again Monday evening and may still see more before sunrise. I haven’t checked yet to see how much more we have gotten. They are predicting isolated storms for today, no rain predicted for Wednesday or Thursday (yet), then scattered storms on Thursday. Then it’s not until Tuesday of next week that they are predicting more scattered storms. Three days in a row without rain? Seems far-fetched to me. I imagine that by mid July and all through August we won’t get any rain at all. I wish we could save this rain for later when we might really need it.

Actually, when I was in my garden yesterday, I saw a couple really wet spots in the garden where it looks like I might have briefly had standing water between my rows of corn. Since we got more rain after that, I wonder what I will find when I go back out there tomorrow?

I live just a bit northwest of Madison, WI. Right now, the weather map shows storms staying north of us. I would say that they can have it, but I don’t think they need it either.

I’ll ask Alexa to play some Leon Russell and some Beatles this morning. I took a motorcycle ride down to Massachusetts to visit my brother and also to see a friend in the VA hospital in Boston. Way too hot riding down to call it enjoyable and coming back it was raining or drizzling most of the way. 1100 miles later and I’m home with a bad head cold that’s seems to be moving to my chest. So, here I am at home, sick, and once again proving you don’t have to be young to do foolish things. I should have stayed longer at my brother’s until I was feeling better.

I hope Annie has plenty of oil in the cupboard, it is what to use when animals, including snakes lizards and birds get stuck in those freaking glue traps. Such a cruel way to die.

You need to be careful not to be so smart that you outsmart yourself.

I’ve had to change up feeding the fosters. That tiny black one is a territorial food hog. At first, they would eat out of the same dish at the same time. Now, if she’s eating and Greyon tries to join in, Bat growls and get pretty feisty! The other day, I tried to pick up her dish so I could split it into one for Greyson and she growled, attacked my hand and stepped into the dish to keep me from taking it away. Now, I just use two dishes and watch until Greyson has had her fill.Once they are both done, I scrape what’s left into one dish.

That’s definitely a disadvantage. Oliver could learn from Chesney what NOT to do. On another note, saw three nuthatches, two butterflies, four juncos, three robins, a Wilson’s warbler, and a rabbit while out walking today.
