In the mid 70s I worked in a department store in appliance repair, the TV and audio department was right there. One of the sales ladies decided to have an LP of disco Christmas songs keep repeating. After 3rd run, I calmly walked over, took it off the turntable and destroyed it. I received an ovation from the rest of the sales staff and customers.
I worked at a performing arts center. Every November to January was Nutcracker. Every Weds, Friday, two times on Sat and once again on Sunday. I got so sick of hearing it, if I ever hear another note from it, it will be much much too soon.
Worst is Maria Carey singing “All I Want For Christmas is Youuuuuuuuuuuu”. Pull all my nails out, make me write bad cheques, just DON"T make me listen to her!!
I am working as a Santa this year. At one venue they have loop of Christmas music. I have heard “All I Want for Christmas is You,” eight times a night.
I was in a restaurant yesterday with the music on HIGH. I don’t enjoy holiday music any more anyway, partly due to my severe sound sensitivity due to an inner ear disorder in both ears that will require major surgery to repair. That won’t happen for probably 6 months. It’s rare, and few doctors do it. I had foam ear plugs jammed into both ears, was engaged with talking with a friend I don’t see very often, and I finally asked the waitress if the sound could be turned down a bit as we were having trouble hearing each other talk. She agreed it was loud, said something indistinct, still in agreement with us, as she walked away. I believe it had to do with turning it down being a problem. It would be down, then way way up, then maybe middle, as they tried to lower it again. We go there often enough to be known by name, so it wasn’t being done on purpose. Migraine night for me. There are no stores or restaurants around here, and certainly not a mall which has music in the mall and different music in every store, that doesn’t have music on 24/7. Am I the only person who would be happy to shop or eat with less distracting noise?
That is why I feel bad for my son, he works at a grocery store on listening to constant Christmas music and sales, only issue the major CEO of same store for branches decided he was not making enough money, sent how many hours approved per store per hourly worker, means less days and time.
When the parental units were still alive we did our Christmas shopping in their attic. Found “treasures” we left behind and gave them as presents. I got my bike basket back!

This time of year I only go to Winco for groceries and the employees own the place, so no music!

Just because you can make a Christmas song doesn’t mean you should.
