When we got taken over, the new company abolished sick days. After that, everyone came to work sick. The corporate world. I’m very glad I’m now retired.
I sure don’t miss working every day. They gave us sick leave. Take it if you have it people. Rest and get over it. If you don’t have sick leave do the best that you can and God Bless.
I worked at a doctor’s office years ago and tried to call in sick and he said I’d better come in and let him check me…I said if I have to come in I might as well stay! In 30 years I never called in sick, it landed me a job when tied with someone else.Nowadays most can work from home, I could at my last job, just not all the time.
Not related to working, when husband’s mom was in separately two different care home’s, when going there with her son, I catch all kinds of stuff, be sick. When I worked for the county department of correction’s as a pt receptionist for teen offender’s, I catch mostly upper respiratory infection’s, had one pink eye, fortunate one teen boy brought in chicken pox and that spread, fortunate I had that when a kid, never caught that again, when job ended, I only gained twice a year upper respiratory. Fortunate what Val is going through did not happen that much, the Administrative Assistant stated chilled, told her fever, she went to get assessed she had 100°, she was my supervisor, I told her she is spreading it, when boss came in asked about her I told him she has fever had to go home.
Anyone remember the Dilbert comic strip where he gets the flu shot and comments to the doctor that now he shouldn’t get the flu, and the doctor says, “Oh, you wanted the flu prevention shot”.?

Ah yes, the American workplace: where people get sick and vacation days but have too much work to take them…

Yet people freaked at mask mandates that make so much sense when dealing with a deadly contagion
