Here’s what happened mom. All of a sudden the TV went bonkers. Made a sound like a flock of Canadian honkers. We sprang to our feet and gave it a whack. By then the whole picture had turned into black. Then it fell off the table and crashed to the floor. And broke in a hundred pieces or more. We think the old dinosaur was going extinct. So let’s get a big flat screen, what do you think?

It’s one of those ancient vacuum tube monstrosities… it’s junk anyway…

The picture on the wall, and the lamp shade will tip her off, too.

I remember the earlier B&W TVs when the vertical or horizontal hold went crazy. One would have to get up and slap the top right of the set with just the right force to get the picture to straighten out. Sometimes a second slap was required. Yes, I am THAT old.

It must have had a glass cover over the tube. If a picture tube broke, the kids would probably be in an ambulance right now.

Camoflage is a good start. But it’s most definitely not a solution…..

If you look closely, it is NOT one of those “tube type” monstrosities but a fairly modern “television” of the flat screen variety – the broken glass on the floor indicates that, as well…
