Looks like this week consists of one-shot strips. That’s good; IMO, they’re better than the arcs.

Apparently Katy’s snores sound like a swan mating call.

Don’t mess with a swan or a goose.

Yep, swans can be pretty vicious. Had a public park with some. Small kids learned fast not to mess with them.

In inflatable kiddie pools the swans one meets are also typically of the inflated type. I haven’t seen many swans in my back yard anyway.

I don’t know if swans are mean, it wouldn’t surprise me though. However, we had a few geese when I was a kid and those things were always irritable and mean.

Swans and Canada Geese….@&%$ Velociraptors with a good tailor.

Every year, the swans and Canada Geese at Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park do their thing and raise their batches of cygnets and goslings. I’ll grant, the little ‘uns are pretty cute, so folks may be excused for wanting to get closer and take photos…so, pretty much without fail, every year at least a couple tourists get the snot kicked out of them, sometimes even a fractured wrist or arm…and there are other areas that are essentially ’no go’ zones during nesting season…so, I’m with Katy; they ARE horrid creatures….

Sample of one, but swans are mean birds all right. We stayed at a motel once and the owner had a pet swan. Every time we came back from somewhere, I had to race to get the door unlocked and everybody in as the thing was pecking at everyone. No, we didn’t taunt it or anything. Ducks are never that way.

While a swan cannot strike a blow strong enough to break a limb, it can punch you in the eye with its beak.

Swans and geese, particularly Canada Geese, are extremely territorial and will attack anything they feel threatens their flock or goslings. And they have a very, very low threshold for feeling threatened.

Boston loves swans, but they CAN be territorial.

This strip is starting to rival ROSE IS ROSE for having the most animal visitors
