I would posit that a chicken could carry an egg, equally as well as Bucky could write a screenplay. And of course, Eggs predate chickens by millions of years.
Egg of course. Via evolution the outcome of each egg changed just a bit until the chicken was born. Before that, they were chicken precursors, but probably not ducks.
Roosters aren’t really necessary if your eggs are just for the family. Hens lay eggs without or without males around to fertilize them. Roosters are too much trouble to keep in a non-rural residence. Just buy new chicks if the need arises. Eat the boys, keep the girls for their virgin eggs—just as nutritious for us as the other kind. No rooster should wake me up when I live in a city or suburbs! Basic courtesy, y’all.

The bible clearly states God created the animals first, according to their kind.

I bet the pair o ducks had a cigarette after they came

The egg leaned back and had a cigarrette. The chicken remained disapointed.

The egg came first. There were creatures laying eggs millions of years before the first chicken evolved.

When their conversations start to give me a headache, I just look at the artwork. Bucky’s expressions are pretty funny.

I’m sure it was a “pair of docs”. :)

It’s not a paradox, nor is it even a conundrum: eggs LONG predate chickens. The animals that become chickens laid eggs, as did their ancestors.

“Why a duck?”

The egg came first as it often dictates the spacial development of any embryo and facilitates implantation without which no fetus would grow.
