In the famous “Wanna Be a Member?” Betty Boop cartoon, the weird cult member who unmasks here as Oona Goosepimple was… under that hood… Betty Boop. YouTube has videos of early human inspirations for the character who became Betty Boop, Helen Kane and Esther Jones (aka Little Esther). The cultists were portrayed as having lit candles on top of their heads that melted down into likenesses of the Pac-Man ghosts.
And, just incidentally, Betty was portrayed as an anthropomorphized dog. Droopy dog ears and all. In her very next cartoon appearance, she was fully human and the dog ears had morphed into the iconic dangling earrings.
Ok…. for the feeble-minded and challenged (ME)…. would someone more in the know please give a synopsis of what the hell this is all about? Jimmjonz alludes to someone named Oona and to Betty Boop. But, unfortunately in my dullard-type state, that is insufficient information for me. So, I ask kindly for someone to spell it all out so that even I could understand and then appreciate what will happen tomorrow.
Leigh Luna (the previous sub) said on social media that she, OJ, and the editor exchanged ideas until the 15 days’ worth of strips were agreed upon. I assume that is was similar with SKG.
This seems like a good-natured parody of “Nancy”, poking fun at one of its greatest strengths. Let’s see how it turns out for the next six days.

I’ve always instinctively felt there was something wrong with minimalists. Now I know why.

I think this artist has confused Nancy with Flash Gordon. Ridiculous.

Note that their presence in this narrative causes complications in of itself.

I find two less complicated than three. Think about ternary relationships for a minute. Art critics can be a bit opinionated.

I give the cartoonist credit for the three rocks. Where Olivia never seems to use them, Guy felt the need to shoehorn it every chance he got.
Still don’t know what’s going on here, but props for three rocks.

I think I saw these critters on an episode of “Lost in Space”! Where’s the robot?
